           And,indeed,itwaslittleJackwhofoundthebedroominquestion,Whiletrottingaboutatthefootofthecliff,hediscovered,behindaturnoftherock,oneofthosegrottoeswellpolished,wellhollowedout,whichtheseaherselfdigs,whenthewaves,enlargedbythetempest,beatthecoast.

           Theyoungchildwasdelighted.Hecalledhismotherwithcriesofjoy,andtriumphantlyshowedherhisdiscovery.

           "Good,myJack!"repliedMrs.Weldon."IfwewereRobinsonCrusoes,destinedtolivealongtimeonthisshore,weshouldnotforgettogiveyournametothatgrotto!"

           Thegrottowasonlyfromtentotwelvefeetlong,andasmanywide;but,inlittleJack’seyes,itwasanenormouscavern.Atallevents,itmustsufficetocontaintheshipwreckedones;and,asMrs.WeldonandNannotedwithsatisfaction,itwasverydry.Themoonbeingtheninherfirstquarter,theyneednotfearthatthoseneap-tideswouldreachthefootofthecliff,andthegrottoinconsequence.
