Theparapetofthiswall,whichoccasionedM.deRênalthreejourneystoParis(forthelastMinisteroftheInteriorbutonehaddeclaredhimselfthemortalenemyofthepromenadeofVerrières),isnowraisedtoaheightoffourfeetabovetheground,andasthoughtodefyallministerswhetherpastorpresent,itisatpresentadornedwithtilesofhewnstone.
