           "Iamoldandbelovedhere,"hesaidtohimselfinawhisper,"theywouldnotdare!"ThenhesuddenlyturnedtothegentlemanfromParis,witheyes,whichinspiteofhisgreatage,shonewiththatsacredfirewhichbetokensthedelightofdoingafinebutslightlydangerousact.
