           Nohighbackboneofislandshelteredusfromthewind,anditwhistledandbellowedaboutthehuttillattimesIfearedforthestrengthofthewalls.Theskinroof,stretchedtightlyasadrumhead,Ihadthought,saggedandbelliedwitheverygust;andinnumerableintersticesinthewalls,notsotightlystuffedwithmossasMaudhadsupposed,disclosedthemselves.Yettheseal-oilburnedbrightlyandwewerewarmandcomfortable.
