Iknewtherewerethreebarrelsofpowderintheship,butknewnotwhereourgunnerhadstowedthem; butwithmuchsearchIfoundthem,twoofthemdryandgood,thirdhadtakenwater;thosetwoIgottomyraftwiththearms. AndnowIthoughtmyselfprettywellfrighted,andbegantothinkhowIshouldgettoshorewiththem,havingneithersail,oar,norrudder;andtheleastcapfulofwindwouldhaveoversetallmynavigation.

Foramileorthereaboutsmyraftwentverywell,onlythatIfounditdrivealittledistantfromtheplacewhereIhadlandedbefore, bywhichIperceivedthattherewassomeindraftofwater,andconsequentlyIhopedtofindsomecreekorriverthere,whichImightmakeuseofasaporttogettolandwithmycargo.
AsIimagined,soitwas; thereappearedbeforemealittleopeningoftheland,andIfoundastrongcurrentofthetidesetintoit,soIguidedmyraftaswellasIcouldtokeepinthemiddleofthestream.
