However,Ifoundthatbeingbetweenthetwogreatcurrents,viz.,thatonthesouthside,whichhadhurriedmeaway,andthatonthenorth,whichlayaboutaleagueontheotherside;Isay,betweenthesetwo,inthewakeoftheisland,Ifoundthewateratleaststill,andrunningnoway; andhavingstillabreezeofwindfairforme,Ikeptonsteeringdirectlyfortheisland,thoughnotmakingsuchfreshwayasIdidbefore.
Aboutfouro’clockintheevening,beingthenwithinaboutaleagueoftheisland,Ifoundthepointoftherockswhichoccasionedthisdisasterstretchingout,asisdescribedbefore,tothesouthward,andcastingoffthecurrentmoresouthwardlyhad,ofcourse,madeanothereddytothenorth, andthisIfoundverystrong,butnotdirectlysettingthewaymycourselay,whichwasduewest,butalmostfullnorth.
