Ihadindeedfoundatortoiseontheshore,asbigalmostasIcouldlift,andhadtosseditintotheboat; andIhadagreatjaroffreshwater,thatistosay,oneofmyearthenpots; butwhatwasallthistobeingdrivenintothevastocean,where,tobesure,therewasnoshore,nomainlandorisland,forathousandleaguesatleast.
AndnowIsawhoweasyitwasfortheprovidenceofGodtomakethemostmiserableconditionmankindcouldbeinworse. NowIlookedbackuponmydesolatesolitaryislandasthemostpleasantplaceintheworld,andallthehappinessmyheartcouldwishforwastobebutthereagain. Istretchedoutmyhandstoit,witheagerwishes. "Ohappydesert!
