           ThosedreadfulwallsofNewgate,whichhavehiddensomuchmiseryandsuchunspeakableanguish,notonlyfromtheeyes,but,toooften,andtoolong,fromthethoughts,ofmen,neverheldsodreadaspectacleasthat.Thefewwholingeredastheypassed,andwonderedwhatthemanwasdoingwhowastobehangedto-morrow,wouldhavesleptbutillthatnight,iftheycouldhaveseenhim.
