           ‘MydearHewasgoingtosaymore;but,Mrs.Sowerberrylookingup,withapeculiarlyunpropitiousaspect,hestoppedshort.

           ‘Well,’saidMrs.Sowerberry,sharply.

           ‘Nothing,mydear,nothing,’saidMr.Sowerberry.

           ‘Ugh,youbrute!’saidMrs.Sowerberry.

           ‘Notatall,mydear,’saidMr.Sowerberryhumbly.‘Ithoughtyoudidn’twanttohear,mydear.Iwasonlygoingtosay

           ‘Oh,don’ttellmewhatyouweregoingtosay,’interposedMrs.Sowerberry.‘Iamnobody;don’tconsultme,pray.Idon’twanttointrudeuponyoursecrets.AsMrs.Sowerberrysaidthis,shegaveanhystericallaugh,whichthreatenedviolentconsequences.
