           ThisbitterdisappointmentcausedOlivermuchsorrowandgrief,eveninthemidstofhishappiness;forhehadpleasedhimself,manytimesduringhisillness,withthinkingofallthatMr.BrownlowandMrs.Bedwinwouldsaytohim:andwhatdelightitwouldbetotellthemhowmanylongdaysandnightshehadpassedinreflectingonwhattheyhaddoneforhim,andinbewailinghiscruelseparationfromthem.Thehopeofeventuallyclearinghimselfwiththem,too,andexplaininghowhehadbeenforcedaway,hadbuoyedhimup,andsustainedhim,undermanyofhisrecenttrials;andnow,theideathattheyshouldhavegonesofar,andcarriedwiththemthebeliefthatthewasanimpostorandarobberabeliefwhichmightremainuncontradictedtohisdyingdaywasalmostmorethanhecouldbear.

           Thecircumstanceoccasionednoalteration,however,inthebehaviourofhisbenefactors.Afteranotherfortnight,whenthefinewarmweatherhadfairlybegun,andeverytreeandflowerwasputtingforthitsyoungleavesandrichblossoms,theymadepreparationsforquittingthehouseatChertsey,forsomemonths.
