           "AndisMissDarcyashandsomeasherbrother?"saidMrs.Gardiner. 

           "Oh!yesthehandsomestyoungladythateverwasseen;andsoaccomplished! Sheplaysandsingsalldaylong. Inthenextroomisanewinstrumentjustcomedownforherapresentfrommymaster;shecomeshereto-morrowwithhim." 

           Mr.Gardiner,whosemannerswereveryeasyandpleasant,encouragedhercommunicativenessbyhisquestionsandremarks;Mrs.Reynolds,eitherbyprideorattachment,hadevidentlygreatpleasureintalkingofhermasterandhissister. 

           "IsyourmastermuchatPemberleyinthecourseoftheyear?" 

           "NotsomuchasIcouldwish,sir; butIdaresayhemayspendhalfhistimehere; andMissDarcyisalwaysdownforthesummermonths." 

           "Except,"thoughtElizabeth,"whenshegoestoRamsgate." 

           "Ifyourmasterwouldmarry,youmightseemoreofhim." 

           "Yes,sir;butIdonotknowwhenthatwillbe. Idonotknowwhoisgoodenoughforhim." 

           Mr.andMrs.Gardinersmiled.Elizabethcouldnothelpsaying, "Itisverymuchtohiscredit,Iamsure,thatyoushouldthinkso."
