           Catherineandhewereconstantcompanionsstillathisseasonsofrespiteandlabour;buthehadceasedtoexpresshisfondnessforherinwords,andrecoiledwithangrysuspicionfromhergirlishcaresses,asifconscioustherecouldbenogratificationinlavishingsuchmarksofaffectiononhim.Onthebefore-namedoccasionhecameintothehousetoannouncehisintentionofdoingnothing,whileIwasassistingMissCathytoarrangeherdress:shehadnotreckonedonhistakingitintohisheadtobeidle;andimaginingshewouldhavethewholeplacetoherself,shemanaged,bysomemeans,toinformMr.Edgarofherbrother’sabsence,andwasthenpreparingtoreceivehim.

           "Cathy,areyoubusy,thisafternoon?"askedHeathcliff."Areyougoinganywhere?"
