           Theycouldn’tbemorethanfifteenmilesfromhome,butattheratethisoldnagtraveleditwouldtakeallday,forshewouldhavetostopfrequentlytoresthim.Allday!Shelookeddowntheglaringredroad,cutindeeprutswherecannonwheelsandambulanceshadgoneoverit.ItwouldbehoursbeforesheknewifTarastillstoodandifEllenwerethere.ItwouldbehoursbeforeshefinishedherjourneyunderthebroilingSeptembersun.

           ShelookedbackatMelaniewholaywithsickeyesclosedagainstthesunandjerkedloosethestringsofherbonnetandtossedittoPrissy.
