           Misuseofpublicfunds,wasteandcorruptionhadreachedsuchproportionsduringhisadministrationthattheedificewastopplingofitsownweight.Evenhisownpartywassplit,sogreathadpublicindignationbecome.TheDemocratshadamajorityinthelegislaturenow,andthatmeantjustonething.Knowingthathewasgoingtobeinvestigatedandfearingimpeachment,Bullockdidnotwait.Hehastilyandsecretlydecamped,arrangingthathisresignationwouldnotbecomepublicuntilhewassafelyintheNorth.
