           Sonowthetigerwhichwascrushinghimchangedtoarabbit,andrelievedofitsweight,Kikisprangupand,spreadinghiseagle’swings,flewintothebranchesofatree,wherenobeastcouldeasilyreachhim.Hewasnotaninstanttooquickindoingthis,forGugutheKinghadcrouchedontherock’sedgeandwasabouttospringontheboy.

           FromhistreeKikitransformedGuguintoafatGillikinwoman,andlaughedaloudtoseehowthewomanprancedwithrage,andhowastonishedallthebeastswereattheirKing’snewshape.

           Thebeastswerefrightened,too,fearingtheywouldsharethefateofGugu,soastampedebeganwhenRangotheGrayApesprangintotheforest,andBrutheBearandLootheUnicornfollowedasquicklyastheycould.Theelephantsbackedintotheforest,andalltheotheranimals,bigandlittle,rushedafterthem,scatteringthroughthejunglesuntiltheclearingwasfarbehind.Themonkeysscrambledintothetreesandswungthemselvesfromlimbtolimb,toavoidbeingtrampleduponbythebiggerbeasts,andtheyweresoquickthattheydistancedalltherest.ApanicoffearseemedtohaveovertakentheforestpeopleandtheygotasfarawayfromtheterribleMagicianastheypossiblycould.

           Butthetransformedonesstayedintheclearing,beingsoastonishedandbewilderedbytheirnewshapesthattheycouldonlylookatoneanotherinadazedandhelplessfashion,althougheachonewasgreatlyannoyedatthetrickthathadbeenplayedonhim.
