ShehadawomantotakecareofhercalledMrs.Poole—anablewomaninherline,andverytrustworthy,butforonefault—afaultcommontoadealofthemnursesandmatrons—shekeptaprivatebottleofginbyher,andnowandthentookadropover-much. Itisexcusable,forshehadahardlifeofit:butstillitwasdangerous;forwhenMrs.Poolewasfastasleepaftertheginandwater,themadlady,whowasascunningasawitch,wouldtakethekeysoutofherpocket,letherselfoutofherchamber,andgoroamingaboutthehouse,doinganywildmischiefthatcameintoherhead.
