           "Andonmypartlikewise,"hereturned,"Ihavesettledeverything;andweshallleaveThornfieldto-morrow,withinhalf-an-hourafterourreturnfromchurch." 

           "Verywell,sir." 

           "Withwhatanextraordinarysmileyouutteredthatword‘verywell,’Jane!Whatabrightspotofcolouryouhaveoneachcheek!andhowstrangelyyoureyesglitter!Areyouwell?" 

           "IbelieveIam." 

           "Believe!Whatisthematter?Tellmewhatyoufeel." 

           "Icouldnot,sir:nowordscouldtellyouwhatIfeel. Iwishthispresenthourwouldneverend:whoknowswithwhatfatethenextmaycomecharged?" 

           "Thisishypochondria,Jane.Youhavebeenover-excited,orover-fatigued." 

           "Doyou,sir,feelcalmandhappy?"
