           ItwasalsoaccompaniedbyherthatIhad,nearlynineyearsago,walkeddownthepathIwasnowascending. Onadark,misty,rawmorninginJanuary,IhadleftahostileroofwithadesperateandembitteredheartasenseofoutlawryandalmostofreprobationtoseekthechillyharbourageofLowood:thatbournesofarawayandunexplored. Thesamehostileroofnowagainrosebeforeme:myprospectsweredoubtfulyet;andIhadyetanachingheart.Istillfeltasawandereronthefaceoftheearth;butIexperiencedfirmertrustinmyselfandmyownpowers,andlesswitheringdreadofoppression. Thegapingwoundofmywrongs,too,wasnowquitehealed;andtheflameofresentmentextinguished. 

           "Youshallgointothebreakfast-roomfirst,"saidBessie,assheprecededmethroughthehall;"theyoungladieswillbethere."

           Twoyoungladiesappearedbeforeme;oneverytall,almostastallasMissIngramverythintoo,withasallowfaceandseveremien.
