Therewassomethinginhislow,languidvoicethatwasabsolutelyfascinating. Hiscool,white,flower-likehands,even,hadacuriouscharm. Theymoved,ashespoke,likemusic,andseemedtohavealanguageoftheirown. Buthefeltafraidofhim,andashamedofbeingafraid. Whyhaditbeenleftforastrangertorevealhimtohimself? HehadknownBasilHallwardformonths,butthefriendshipbetweenthemhadneveralteredhim.
