           ‘Whathadbetterbedone,then?’saidMr.Pickwick.

           ‘Nothingbuttakinghimintheveryactofeloping,willconvincetheoldlady,sir,’repliedJob.

           ‘AllthemoldcatsWILLruntheirheadsaginmilestones,’observedMr.Weller,inaparenthesis.

           ‘Butthistakinghimintheveryactofelopement,wouldbeaverydifficultthingtoaccomplish,Ifear,’saidMr.Pickwick.

           ‘How?’wasMr.Pickwick’sinquiry.

           ‘Why,’repliedMr.Trotter,‘mymasterandI,beingintheconfidenceofthetwoservants,willbesecretedinthekitchenatteno’clock.Whenthefamilyhaveretiredtorest,weshallcomeoutofthekitchen,andtheyoungladyoutofherbedroom.Apost-chaisewillbewaiting,andawaywego.’

           ‘Well?’saidMr.Pickwick.

           ‘Well,sir,Ihavebeenthinkingthatifyouwereinwaitinginthegardenbehind,alone
