           Heappearedtohaveaveryopentempercertainlyaverycheerfulandlivelyone;shecouldobservenothingwronginhisnotions,agreatdealdecidedlyright;hespokeofhisunclewithwarmregard,wasfondoftalkingofhimsaidhewouldbethebestmanintheworldifhewerelefttohimself;andthoughtherewasnobeingattachedtotheaunt,heacknowledgedherkindnesswithgratitude,andseemedtomeanalwaystospeakofherwithrespect.Thiswasallverypromising;and,butforsuchanunfortunatefancyforhavinghishaircut,therewasnothingtodenotehimunworthyofthedistinguishedhonourwhichherimaginationhadgivenhim;thehonour,ifnotofbeingreallyinlovewithher,ofbeingatleastverynearit,andsavedonlybyherownindifference(forstillherresolutionheldofnevermarrying)—thehonour,inshort,ofbeingmarkedoutforherbyalltheirjointacquaintance.
