TheWickedWitchthenmadetheaxeslipandcutoffmyhead,andatfirstIthoughtthatwastheendofme. Butthetinsmithhappenedtocomealong,andhemademeanewheadoutoftin.
"IthoughtIhadbeatentheWickedWitchthen,andIworkedharderthanever; butIlittleknewhowcruelmyenemycouldbe. Oncemorethetinsmithcametomyhelpandmademeabodyoftin,fasteningmytinarmsandlegsandheadtoit,bymeansofjoints,sothatIcouldmovearoundaswellasever. But,alas! Ihadnownoheart,sothatIlostallmylovefortheMunchkingirl,anddidnotcarewhetherImarriedherornot. Isupposesheisstilllivingwiththeoldwoman,waitingformetocomeafterher.
