           Pollyannaactuallygrewwhite. 

           "Youmeanwhy,Nancy,notreallyreallyandtruly?" 

           "Iguessyou’llthinkit’sreallyandtruly,"prophesiedNancy,exultingly,noddingherheadtoPollyannaoverthearmfulofdressesshehadtakenfromthecloset. "I’mtoldtertakedownyerthings,andI’mgoin’tertake‘em,too,‘foreshegetsachanceterchangehermind." 

           Pollyannadidnotstoptoheartheendofthissentence. Attheimminentriskofbeingdashedheadlong,shewasflyingdown-stairs,twostepsatatime. 

           BangwenttwodoorsandachairbeforePollyannaatlastreachedhergoalAuntPolly. 

           "Oh,AuntPolly,AuntPolly,didyoumeanit,really? Why,thatroom’sgotEVERYTHINGthecarpetandcurtainsandthreepictures,besidestheoneoutdoors,too,‘causethewindowslookthesameway. Oh,AuntPolly!" 

           "Verywell,Pollyanna. Iamgratifiedthatyoulikethechange,ofcourse; butifyouthinksomuchofallthosethings,Itrustyouwilltakepropercareofthem; that’sall. Pollyanna,pleasepickupthatchair; andyouhavebangedtwodoorsinthelasthalf-minute." MissPollyspokesternly,allthemoresternlybecause,forsomeinexplicablereason,shefeltinclinedtocryandMissPollywasnotusedtofeelinginclinedtocry.
