Thenhehalfturnedhisheadandimmediatelyturneditawayagain. Butshesawhehadremovedhisglasses;theywerebesidehimonthetable,anditseemedtoherthathiseyesocketswereextraordinarilyhollow. Heputonhisspectaclesagain,andthenturnedandfacedher. Shewasabouttocomplainofthestrawonthefloorwhenheanticipatedher.
