ItwasluckyforDorothy,Ithink,thatthestormsubsided;otherwise,bravethoughshewas,Ifearshemighthaveperished.Manychildren,inherplace,wouldhaveweptandgivenwaytodespair;butbecauseDorothyhadencounteredsomanyadventuresandcomesafelythroughthemitdidnotoccurtoheratthistimetobeespeciallyafraid.Shewaswetanduncomfortable,itistrue;but,aftersighingthatonesighItoldyouof,shemanagedtorecallsomeofhercustomarycheerfulnessanddecidedtopatientlyawaitwhateverherfatemightbe.
Byandbytheblackcloudsrolledawayandshowedablueskyoverhead,withasilvermoonshiningsweetlyinthemiddleofitandlittlestarswinkingmerrilyatDorothywhenshelookedtheirway.Thecoopdidnottossaroundanymore,butrodethewavesmoregently--almostlikeacradlerocking--sothattheflooruponwhichDorothystoodwasnolongersweptbywatercomingthroughtheslats
