Thatthebirdsknowwhatwouldhappeniftheywerecaught,andareevenalittleundecidedaboutwhichisthebetterlife,isobvioustoeverystudentofthem.Thus,ifyouleaveyouremptyperambulatorunderthetreesandwatchfromadistance,youwillseethebirdsboardingitandhoppingaboutfrompillowtoblanketinatwitterofexcitement;theyaretryingtofindouthowbabyhoodwouldsuitthem.
QuitetheprettiestsightintheGardensiswhenthebabiesstrayfromthetreewherethenurseissittingandareseenfeedingthebirds,notagrownupnearthem.Itisfirstabittomeandthenabittoyou,andallthetimesuchajabberingandlaughingfrombothsidesoftherailing.Theyarecomparingnotesandinquiringforoldfriends,andsoon;butwhattheysayIcannotdetermine,forwhenIapproachtheyallflyaway.
