Theywerenowloathtolethergo,for,“Ifthefairiesseeyou,”theywarnedher,“theywillmischiefyou,stabyoutodeathorcompelyoutonursetheirchildrenorturnyouintosomethingtedious,likeanevergreenoak.”Astheysaidthistheylookedwithaffectedpityatanevergreenoak,forinwintertheyareveryenviousoftheevergreens.
