AHappyNewYeartoyouall,mydearestfamily,whichofcourseincludesMr.L.andayoungmanbythenameofTeddy.Ican’ttellyouhowmuchIenjoyedyourChristmasbundle,forIdidn’tgetittillnightandhadgivenuphoping.Yourlettercameinthemorning,butyousaidnothingaboutaparcel,meaningitforasurprise,soIwasdisappointed,forI’dhada‘kindoffeeling’thatyouwouldn’tforgetme.IfeltalittlelowinmymindasIsatupinmyroomaftertea,andwhenthebig,muddy,battered-lookingbundlewasbroughttome,Ijusthuggeditandpranced.ItwassohomeyandrefreshingthatIsatdownonthefloorandreadandlookedandateandlaughedandcried,inmyusualabsurdway.ThethingswerejustwhatIwanted,andallthebetterforbeingmadeinsteadofbought.Beth’snew‘inkbib’wascapital,andHannah’sboxofhardgingerbreadwillbeatreasure.I’llbesureandweartheniceflannelsyousent,Marmee,andreadcarefullythebooksFatherhasmarked.Thankyouall,heapsandheaps!
