           Allsortsofpleasantthingshappenedaboutthattime,forthenewfriendshipflourishedlikegrassinspring.EveryonelikedLaurie,andheprivatelyinformedhistutorthat"theMarcheswereregularlysplendidgirls."Withthedelightfulenthusiasmofyouth,theytookthesolitaryboyintotheirmidstandmademuchofhim,andhefoundsomethingverycharmingintheinnocentcompanionshipofthesesimple-heartedgirls.Neverhavingknownmotherorsisters,hewasquicktofeeltheinfluencestheybroughtabouthim,andtheirbusy,livelywaysmadehimashamedoftheindolentlifeheled.Hewastiredofbooks,andfoundpeoplesointerestingnowthatMr.
