SirRichardgavetoeachyeomanabowandaquiverofarrows,buttoRobinhegaveastoutbowinlaidwiththecunningestworkmanshipingold,whileeacharrowinhisquiverwasinnockedwithgold.
Thenallshoutedagainforjoyofthefairgift,andallsworeamongthemselvesthattheywoulddieifneedbeforSirRichardandhislady.
AtlastthetimecamewhenSirRichardmustgo,whereuponRobinHoodcalledhisbandaroundhim,andeachmanoftheyeomentookatorchinhishandtolightthewaythroughthewoodlands.SotheycametotheedgeofSherwood,andtheretheKnightkissedRobinuponthecheeksandlefthimandwasgone.
ThusRobinHoodhelpedanobleknightoutofhisdiremisfortunes,thatelsewouldhavesmotheredthehappinessfromhislife.
