Atsuchtimesthemanfairlycaughthisbreathatsightofthehorriddepthsbelowthem,forTarzantooktheeasiestway,whichoftenledoverahundredfeetabovetheearth.
Andyetwithallhisseemingspeed,Tarzanwasinrealityfeelinghiswaywithcomparativeslowness,searchingconstantlyforlimbsofadequatestrengthforthemaintenanceofthisdoubleweight.
Presentlytheycametotheclearingbeforethebeach.Tarzan’squickearshadheardthestrangesoundsofSabor’seffortstoforceherwaythroughthelattice,anditseemedtoClaytonthattheydroppedastraighthundredfeettoearth,soquicklydidTarzandescend.
