TheClaytonsheededBlackMichael’sinstructionssowellthattheysawbutlittleofthecrewandknewnothingoftheplansthemenweremaking.
Occasionallytheyheardfaintechoesofbrawlsandquarrelingamongthemutineers,andontwooccasionstheviciousbarkoffirearmsrangoutonthestillair.ButBlackMichaelwasafitleaderforthisbandofcutthroats,and,withalheldtheminfairsubjectiontohisrule.
