Ihadnotbeenlonghere,butbeingrecommendedtothehouseofagoodhonestmanlikehimself, whohadaningeinoastheycallit,thatis,aplantationandasugar-house, Ilivedwithhimsometime,andacquaintedmyselfbythatmeanswiththemanneroftheirplantingandmakingofsugar; andseeinghowwelltheplanterslived,andhowtheygrewrichsuddenly,Iresolved,ifIcouldgetlicensetosettlethere,Iwouldturnplanteramongthem, resolvinginthemeantimetofindoutsomewaytogetmymoneywhichIhadleftinLondonremittedtome. Tothispurpose,gettingakindofaletterofnaturalization,Ipurchasedasmuchlandthatwasuncuredasmymoneywouldreach,andformedaplanformyplantationandsettlement,andsuchaoneasmightbesuitabletothestockwhichIproposedtomyselftoreceivefromEngland.
