Uponthesesignalstheyverykindlybroughtto,andlaybyforme;andinaboutthreehours’timeIcameupwiththem.
TheyaskedmewhatIwas,inPortuguese,andinSpanish,andinFrench,butIunderstoodnoneofthem; butatlastaScotssailor,whowasonboard,calledtome,andIansweredhim,andtoldhimIwasanEnglishman,thatIhadmademyescapeoutofslaveryfromtheMoors,atSallee. Thentheybademecomeonboard,andverykindlytookmein,andallmygoods.
Itwasaninexpressiblejoytome,thatanyonewillbelieve,thatIwasthusdelivered,asIesteemedit,fromsuchamiserable,andalmosthopeless,conditionasIwasin; andIimmediatelyofferedallIhadtothecaptainoftheship,asareturnformydeliverance.Buthegenerouslytoldmehewouldtakenothingfromme,butthatallIhadshouldbedeliveredsafetomewhenIcametotheBrazils.
