WhenIshowedmyselftothetwohostages,itwaswiththecaptain,whotoldthemIwasthepersonthegovernorhadorderedtolookafterthem,andthatitwasthegovernor’spleasuretheyshouldnotstiranywherebutbymydirection;thatiftheydid,theyshouldbefetchedintothecastle,andbelaidinirons; sothatasweneversufferedthemtoseemeasgovernor,soInowappearedasanotherperson,andspokeofthegovernor,thegarrison,thecastle,andthelike,uponalloccasions.
Thecaptainnowhadnodifficultybeforehimbuttofurnishhistwoboats,stopthebreachofone,andmanthem. Hemadehispassengercaptainofone,withfourothermen; andhimself,andhismate,andfivemorewentintheother; andtheycontrivedtheirbusinessverywell,fortheycameuptotheshipaboutmidnight. Assoonastheycamewithincalloftheship,hemadeRobinsonhailthem,andtellthemtheyhadbroughtoffthemenandtheboat,butthatitwasalongtimebeforetheyhadfoundthem,andthelike,holdingtheminachattilltheycametotheship’sside; whenthecaptainandthemateenteringfirst,withtheirarms,immediatelyknockeddownthesecondmateandcarpenterwiththebutt-endoftheirmuskets,beingveryfaithfullysecondedbytheirmen.
