           Whenhecameuptome,Ifoundhehadbeenquitehomeforanearthenjug,orpot,tobringhisfathersomefreshwater,andthathehadgottwomorecakesorloavesofbread. Thebreadhegaveme,butthewaterhecarriedtohisfather.However,asIwasverythirstytoo,Itookalittlesipofit. ThiswaterrevivedhisfathermorethanalltherumorspiritsIhadgivenhim,forhewasjustfaintingwiththirst. 

           Whenhisfatherhaddrank,Icalledtohimtoknowiftherewasanywaterleft. Hesaid,"Yes;"andIbadehimgiveittothepoorSpaniard,whowasinasmuchwantofitashisfather; andIsentoneofthecakes,thatFridaybrought,totheSpaniard,too,whowasindeedveryweak,andwasreposinghimselfuponagreenplaceundertheshadeofatree; andwhoselimbswerealsoverystiff,andverymuchswelledwiththerudebandagehebeentiedwith. WhenIsawthatuponFriday’scomingtohimwiththewaterhesatupanddrank,andtookthebread,andbegantoeat.Iwenttohim,andgavehimahandfulofraisins. Helookedupinmyfacewithallthetokensofgratitudeandthankfulnessthatcouldappearinanycountenance; butwassoweak,notwithstandinghehadsoexertedhimselfinthefight,thathecouldnotstandupuponhisfeet.Hetriedtodoittwoorthreetimes,butwasreallynotable,hisanklesweresoswelledandsopainfultohim;
