AccordinglyIwent,andfounditwhereIleftit,forindeeditcouldnotgetout,butalmoststarvedforwantoffood. Iwentoutandcutboughsoftrees,andbranchesofsuchshrubsasIcouldfind,andthrewitover,andhavingfedit,ItieditasIdidbefore,toleaditaway; butitwassotamewithbeinghungry,thatIhadnoneedtohavetiedit,foritfollowedmelikeadog. AndasIcontinuallyfedit,thecreaturebecamesoloving,sogentle,andsofond,thatitbecamefromthattimeoneofmydomesticsalso,andwouldneverleavemeafterwards.
Therainyseasonoftheautumnalequinoxwasnowcome,andIkeptthe30thofSeptemberinthesamesolemnmannerasbefore,beingtheanniversaryofmylandingontheisland,havingnowbeentheretwoyears, andnomoreprospectofbeingdeliveredthanthefirstdayIcamethere. Ispentthewholedayinhumbleandthankfulacknowledgmentsofthemanywonderfulmercieswhichmysolitaryconditionwasattendedwith,andwithoutwhichitmighthavebeeninfinitelymoremiserable.
