           Andstill,aswewentthroughtheprettyrooms,outatthelittlerusticverandahdoors,andunderneaththetinywoodencolonnadesgarlandedwithwoodbine,jasmine,andhoney-suckle,Isawinthepaperingonthewalls,inthecoloursofthefurniture,inthearrangementofalltheprettyobjects,MYlittletastesandfancies,MYlittlemethodsandinventionswhichtheyusedtolaughatwhiletheypraisedthem,myoddwayseverywhere.Icouldnotsayenoughinadmirationofwhatwasallsobeautiful,butonesecretdoubtaroseinmymindwhenIsawthis,Ithought,oh,wouldhebethehappierforit!WoulditnothavebeenbetterforhispeacethatIshouldnothavebeensobroughtbeforehim?BecausealthoughIwasnotwhathethoughtme,stillhelovedmeverydearly,anditmightremindhimmournfullyofwhatbebelievedhehadlost.Ididnotwishhimtoforgetmeperhapshemightnothavedoneso,withouttheseaidstohismemorybutmywaywaseasierthanhis,andIcouldhavereconciledmyselfeventothatsothathehadbeenthehappierforit."Andnow,littlewoman,"saidmyguardian,whomIhadneverseensoproudandjoyfulasinshowingmethesethingsandwatchingmyappreciationofthem,"now,lastofall,forthenameofthishouse.""Whatisitcalled,dearguardian?""Mychild,"saidhe,"comeandsee,"Hetookmetotheporch,whichhehadhithertoavoided,andsaid,pausingbeforewewentout,"Mydearchild,don’tyouguessthename?""No!"saidI.Wewentoutoftheporchandheshowedmewrittenoverit,BleakHouse.
