           Duringtherecital,RobertGrantwasdevouringthespeakerwithhiseyes,andhangingonherlips.Hischildishimaginationevidentlyretracedallthescenesofhisfather’sshipwreck.HesawhimonthedeckoftheBritannia,andthenstrugglingwiththebillows,thenclingingtotherocks,andlyingatlengthexhaustedonthebeach.

           Morethanoncehecriedout,"Oh,papa!mypoorpapa!"andpressedclosetohissister.

           MissGrantsatsilentandmotionless,withclaspedhands,andallshesaidwhenthenarrationended,was:"Oh,ma’am,thepaper,please!"
