           Thalcaverepliedthathewasastonishedtoseetheplainssosaturatedwithwater.Never,tohisknowledge,sincehehadfollowedthecallingofguide,hadhefoundthegroundinthissoakingcondition.Evenintherainyseason,theArgentineplainshadalwaysbeenpassable.
