Heywardwouldgladlyhaveheardmore,butagentlepushfromhisfriendurgedhimtowardsthedoor,andadmonishedhimofthedangerthatmightattendthediscoveryoftheirintercourse.Slowlyandreluctantlyyieldingtothenecessity,hequittedtheplace,andmingledwiththethrongthathoverednigh.Thedyingfiresintheclearingcastadimanduncertainlightontheduskyfiguresthatweresilentlystalkingtoandfro;andoccasionallyabrightergleamthancommonglancedintothelodge,andexhibitedthefigureofUncasstillmaintainingitsuprightattitudenearthedeadbodyoftheHuron.
