Directlyontheshoreofthelake,andnearertoitswesternthantoitseasternmargin,laytheextensiveearthenrampartsandlowbuildingsofWilliamHenry.Twoofthesweepingbastionsappearedtorestonthewaterwhichwashedtheirbases,whileadeepditchandextensivemorassesguardeditsothersidesandangles.
