           Hethenrecollectedherembarrassmentafewdaysbefore,onhisreadingMr.Collins’sletter; andafterlaughingathersometime,allowedheratlasttogo—saying,asshequittedtheroom, "IfanyyoungmencomeforMaryorKitty,sendthemin,forIamquiteatleisure." 

           Elizabeth’smindwasnowrelievedfromaveryheavyweight; and,afterhalfanhour’squietreflectioninherownroom,shewasabletojointheotherswithtolerablecomposure. Everythingwastoorecentforgaiety,buttheeveningpassedtranquillyaway; therewasnolongeranythingmaterialtobedreaded,andthecomfortofeaseandfamiliaritywouldcomeintime. 

           Whenhermotherwentuptoherdressing-roomatnight,shefollowedher,andmadetheimportantcommunication. Itseffectwasmostextraordinary; foronfirsthearingit,Mrs.Bennetsatquitestill,andunabletoutterasyllable. Norwasitundermany,manyminutesthatshecouldcomprehendwhatsheheard;thoughnotingeneralbackwardtocreditwhatwasfortheadvantageofherfamily,orthatcameintheshapeofalovertoanyofthem. Shebeganatlengthtorecover,tofidgetaboutinherchair,getup,sitdownagain,wonder,andblessherself.
