           “Isupposeit’sbecauseyou’reallexcitedandworkedup,”saidMarilladisapprovingly.“Sitdownonthatchairandtrytocalmyourself.I’mafraidyoubothcryandlaughfartooeasily.Yes,youcanstayhereandwewilltrytodorightbyyou.Youmustgotoschool;butit’sonlyafortnighttillvacationsoitisn’tworthwhileforyoutostartbeforeitopensagaininSeptember.”

           “WhatamItocallyou?”askedAnne.“ShallIalwayssayMissCuthbert?CanIcallyouAuntMarilla?”

           “No;you’llcallmejustplainMarilla.I’mnotusedtobeingcalledMissCuthbertanditwouldmakemenervous.”

           “ItsoundsawfullydisrespectfultojustsayMarilla,”protestedAnne.

           “Iguessthere’llbenothingdisrespectfulinitifyou’recarefultospeakrespectfully.Everybody,youngandold,inAvonleacallsmeMarillaexcepttheminister.HesaysMissCuthbert—whenhethinksofit.”

           “I’dlovetocallyouAuntMarilla,”saidAnnewistfully.
