           Onthe22ndofAugusttheoutlineofPrinceEdward’sIslandwassighted,southlatitude46°55’,and37°46’eastlongitude.Wewereinsightoftheislandfortwelvehours,andthenitwaslostintheeveningmists.

           OnthefollowingdaytheHalbraneheadedinthedirectionofthenorth-west,towardsthemostnorthernparallelofthesouthernhemispherewhichshehadtoattaininthecourseofthatvoyage.
