ForsometimeOzmahadruledoverthisfaircountry,andneverwasRulermorepopularorbeloved.Sheissaidtobethemostbeautifulgirltheworldhaseverknown,andherheartandmindareaslovelyasherperson.
DorothyGalehadseveraltimesvisitedtheEmeraldCityandexperiencedadventuresintheLandofOz,sothatsheandOzmahadnowbecomefirmfriends.ThegirlRulerhadevenmadeDorothyaPrincessofOz,andhadoftenimploredhertocometoOzma’sstatelypalaceandlivetherealways;butDorothyhadbeenloyaltoherAuntEmandUncleHenry,whohadcaredforhersinceshewasababy,andshehadrefusedtoleavethembecausesheknewtheywouldbelonelywithouther.
However,Dorothynowrealizedthatthingsweregoingtobedifferentwithheruncleandauntfromthistimeforth,soaftergivingthematterdeepthoughtshedecidedtoaskOzmatograntheraverygreatfavor.
