WhentheyhadgoneandtheKingwasalonewithDorothyhecamedownfromhisthrone,tossedhiscrownintoacornerandkickedhiserminerobeunderthetable.
"Sitdown,"hesaid,"andtrytobehappy.It’suselessformetotry,becauseI’malwayswretchedandmiserable.ButI’mhungry,andIhopeyouare."
"Iam,"saidDorothy."I’veonlyeatenawheelbarrowandapianoto-day--oh,yes!andasliceofbreadandbutterthatusedtobeadoor-mat."
