TheGlassCat,althoughithadsomedisagreeablewaysandmanners,neverthelessrealizedthatTrotandCap’nBillwereitsfriendsandsowasquitedisturbedatthefixithadgottenthemintobyleadingthemtotheIsleoftheMagicFlower.TherubyheartoftheGlassCatwascoldandhard,butstillitwasaheart,andtohaveaheartofanysortistohavesomeconsiderationforothers.Butthequeertransparentcreaturedidn’twantTrotandCap’nBilltoknowitwassorryforthem,andthereforeitmovedveryslowlyuntilithadcrossedtheriverandwasoutofsightamongthetreesoftheforest.ThenitheadedstraighttowardtheEmeraldCity,andtrottedsofastthatitwaslikeacrystalstreakcrossingthevalleysandplains.Beingglass,thecatwastireless,andwithnoreasontodelayitsjourney,itreachedOzma’spalaceinwonderfullyquicktime.
"Where’stheWizard?"itaskedthePinkKitten,whichwascurledupinthesunshineontheloweststepofthepalaceentrance.
"Don’tbotherme,"lazilyansweredthePinkKitten,whosenamewasEureka.
"ImustfindtheWizardatonce!"saidtheGlassCat.
"Thenfindhim,"advisedEureka,andwenttosleepagain.
TheGlassCatdartedupthestairwayandcameuponToto,Dorothy’slittleblackdog.
"Where’stheWizard?"askedtheCat.
"GoneonajourneywithDorothy,"repliedToto.
"Whendidtheygo,andwherehavetheygone?"demandedtheCat.
"Theywentyesterday,andIheardthemsaytheywouldgototheGreatForestintheMunchkinCountry."
