"Idon’tknow,"admittedtheKalidah."ButwhentheyDOcome,youcan’tescapethem."
"Iftheyholdofflongenough,I’llhavemyraftready,"saidCap’nBill.
"Whatareyougoingtodowitharaft?"inquiredthebeast.
"We’regoin’overtothatisland,togettheMagicFlower."
Thehugebeastlookedathiminsurpriseamoment,andthenitbegantolaugh.Thelaughwasagooddeallikearoar,andithadacruelandderisivesound,butitwasalaughnevertheless.
"Good!"saidtheKalidah."Good!Verygood!I’mgladyou’regoingtogettheMagicFlower.Butwhatwillyoudowithit?"
"We’regoingtotakeittoOzma,asapresentonherbirthday."
TheKalidahlaughedagain;thenitbecamesober."Ifyougettothelandonyourraftbeforemypeoplecancatchyou,"itsaid,"youwillbesafefromus.Wecanswimlikeducks,sothegirlcouldn’thaveescapedmebygettingintothewater;butKalidahsdon’tgotothatislandoverthere."
