NexttotheScarecrow,Dorothywasseated,andnexttoherwasTik-Tok,theClockworkMan,whohadbeenwoundupastightlyashisclockworkwouldpermit,sohewouldn’tinterruptthefestivitiesbyrunningdown.ThencameAuntEmandUncleHenry,Dorothy’sownrelations,twokindlyoldpeoplewhohadacozyhomeintheEmeraldCityandwereveryhappyandcontentedthere.ThenBetsyBobbinwasseated,andnexttoherthedrollanddelightfulShaggyMan,whowasafavoritewhereverhewent.
Ontheothersideofthetable,oppositetheTinWoodmanwasplacedTrot,andnexttoher,Cap’nBill.ThenwasseatedButton-BrightandOjotheLucky,andDr.PiptandhisgoodwifeMargalot,andtheastonishingFrogman,whohadcomefromtheYipcountrytobepresentatOzma’sbirthdayfeast.
Atthefootofthetable,facingOzma,wasseatedthequeenlyGlinda,thegoodSorceressofOz,forthiswasreallytheplaceofhonornexttotheheadofthetablewhereOzmaherselfsat.OnGlinda’srightwastheLittleWizardofOz,whoowedtoGlindaallofthemagicalartsheknew.ThencameJinjur,aprettygirlfarmerofwhomOzmaandDorothywerequitefond.TheadjoiningseatwasoccupiedbytheTinSoldier,andnexttohimwasProfessorH.M.Wogglebug,T.E.,oftheRoyalAthleticCollege.
OnGlinda’sleftwasplacedthejollyPatchworkGirl,whowasalittleafraidoftheSorceressandsowaslikelytobehaveherselfprettywell.
